Leaf Creative was launched by Peter Dowle, of Howle Hill Nursery, in 2018.

Several years ago, Leaf Creative founder and award-winning garden designer Peter Dowle had an idea to provide a creative plant and design service.
​
He wanted a place where people could get together, talk about their gardens and plants, and get inspiration and advice from knowledgeable experts.
Leaf Creative is the place to go to find fabulous, unusual plant specimens that can inject structure, colour and texture into your garden. We pride ourselves on stocking specialist plants that are rarely found in a conventional garden centre.

Leaf Creative at Huntley had its origin in our founding nursery at Howle Hill and grew from there. We are still nurturing and growing the 'big idea'. We source and grow incredible plants, and create ever-changing new spaces for people to experience at their leisure.

We also provide a place where you can meet and discuss your garden projects directly with our designers.
Leaf Creative has a real sense of personality, where gardening and landscaping expertise combine with aspirational gardening design.

Huntley Garden Centre Joins UK’s Leading Garden Centre Group

Leaf Creative Garden Centre, Huntley acquired by Blue Diamond as award-winning team prepares another Chelsea Flower Show showcase
​
Leaf Creative Garden Centre, Huntley has been acquired by the UK’s leading garden centre group, Blue Diamond Garden Centres, marking an exciting new chapter for the popular Gloucestershire destination.
Founded in 2018, the Huntley garden centre has quickly built a reputation for high-quality plants, creative displays and innovative horticulture. Its addition to the Blue Diamond portfolio makes it the 53rd garden centre in the group’s growing UK network.

The relationship between the two businesses has already flourished in recent years. Over the past three years the Leaf Creative team has worked closely with Blue Diamond, including rebuilding a show garden at the group’s flagship Bridgemere garden centre in 2024.

Peter Dowle, designer and lead at Leaf Creative Garden Centre, Huntley, said:
“I am delighted with the opportunity this will bring to the store at Leaf Creative by becoming part of the Blue Diamond portfolio. It will continue with all the great things our customers have come to love, delivered by our fabulous team – but with even more to come.
A revamp of the plant area is already underway as part of the new-look Leaf, while our original DNA remains throughout.”

Meanwhile the Leaf Creative Gardens team are already preparing another major exhibit at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, once again working with Blue Diamond with hopes of another Gold Medal.
​
The immersive garden will guide visitors through a drought-resistant landscape into a tropical greenhouse and a lush display of UK-grown tropical plants with a dramatic waterfall. The journey continues through a mist-filled grove of Japanese maples and flowering dogwoods into a scented jasmine arch, a vertical herb allotment and finally a contemporary take on a traditional cottage garden framed by climbing roses.

Last year, Leaf Creative Gardens – which remains a separate business designing and building gardens throughout the UK – helped deliver Blue Diamond’s first ever Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, with an immersive walk-through garden in the Grand Pavilion. The exhibit also received the prestigious Best Tree in Show 2025 award.
